Raymond Manley

December 30, 1927 — February 13, 2017

Mr. Raymond Manley, 89 of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Monday morning February 13, 2017 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington following a brief illness. He was born in the Bald Eagle community of Bath County, Kentucky to the late Steven Douglas Manley and Rosie Jewell Welch Manley.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a half brother, Paul Reed and seven sisters, Lena Hunt, Mary Alice Compton, Ruth Warner, Pauline Curtis, Maxine Henderson, Emma Mae Hatton and Lizzie Welch. Also, a great-grandson, Gavin Cohorn.

Mr. Manley was a retired farmer and U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed mowing his yard, raising a garden, talking on the C.B. and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins Manley of Bethel. Two sons, Larry Manley and his wife Karen of Bethel. Gary Douglas "Doug" Manley of Bethel. One daughter, Debbie Gulley of Bethel. One sister, Beulah Crouch of Sharpsburg, Kentucky. Six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Victory Chapel Church on Veterans Memorial Highway in Sharpsburg with Pastor Kevin Miles officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126 will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Victory Chapel Church will be after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Serving as pall bearers will be Shirley Grimes, David Gulley, Michael Manley, Johnathan Manley, Joseph Manley and Nicholas Gulley. Honorary pall bearers will be John Pat Crowe,  Paul Marshall, Jr., Jim Hawkins and Paul Crouch.
