Elizabeth Manley

February 19, 1932 — December 9, 2017

Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins Manley, 85, of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after an illness of several weeks.

She was born on February 19, 1932 in Bath County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George Lee Hawkins and Jenny C. Emmons Hawkins.

Mrs. Manley worked at U. S. Shoe for 34 years and had also worked at Jockey International.

She loved to read and enjoyed quilting, working in tobacco, shopping, going to yard sales and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Manley, who passed away on February 13, 2017, one brother, Jack Hawkins, two sisters, Mary Helen Curry and Margaret Welch and one great-grandson, Gavin Cohorn.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Manley and his wife, Karen of Bethel and Gary Douglas "Doug" Manley of Bethel, one daughter, Debbie Gulley of Bethel, two brothers, George Robert “Funny” Hawkins of Bethel and Noble Hawkins of Lexington, one sister, Ethel Bashford of Cincinnati, Ohio, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Victory Chapel Church on Veterans Memorial Highway in Sharpsburg with Rev. Kevin Miles officiating.

Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Victory Chapel Church will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Shirley Grimes, David Gulley, Michael Manley, Johnathan Sebastian, Joseph Manley and Nicholas Gulley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Sebastian, Paul Marshall, Jr., Jim Hawkins and Paul Crouch.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all arrangements.
