James "Jimmy" Shields

Owingsville

Mr. James Wallace "Jimmy"  Shields, 80 of Owingsville, passed away Monday at his home.

He was born February 7, 1939 in Bath County, Kentucky to the late Robert Warner Shields and Delsie Jones Shields.

Jimmy was a lifelong farmer, attended the Owingsville First Church of God and had served in the United States Army Reserve. He enjoyed collecting marbles, Indian artifacts, reading and drawing. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bobby Shields, John Shields and Billy Shields.

Survivors include his wife Donna Blevins Shields, two sons: Jamie Shields and his wife Teresa and Gene Shields and his wife Donna Jean all of Owingsville. One daughter, Nancye Sain and her husband Donny of Owingsville, one brother, Oscar Lewis Shields and his wife, Ruth of Owingsville, One sister, Nancy Shields of Lexington, Kentucky. Nine grandchildren, Chelsea Shields, James Hunter Shields and his fiancé Kelsey Ulery, Gracie Jean Shields, Taylor Watkins and her husband Dylan, Britney Sain, Kaylee Sain, Ireland Sain, Caleb Sain and Isabella Sain. Two great-grandchildren, Kashton Watkins and Emerald Thompson. Also, several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Montgomery Post 22 of the American Legion will be in the Shields Cemetery.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

Serving as pall bearers will be James Hunter Shields, Dylan Watkins, Chris Charles, Phillip Wells, Ken Ferguson, Danny Shields, Howard Stone and David Bailey.
