Lorena Staton

Owingsville

Mrs. Lorena Mae Whitton Staton, 86, of Owingsville, passed away Sunday morning, November 18, 2018 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

She was born on March 19, 1932 in Bath County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Holden Lee Whitton and Mary Ethel Royse Whitton.

Mrs. Staton retired at the age of 80, having worked at Faulkner and King CPA Firm, where she was the head bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Owingsville First Church of God and was a very active member of the Owingsville First Church of God WCG.

Lorena was the former treasurer of the Polksville Cemetery and she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting and knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on December 24, 1953, Arthur Benton Staton, who passed away on March 21, 2009, one brother, James Orville Whitton and a sister-in-law, Wilma Jean Whitton.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Benton Staton (Dru) of Owingsville and Woodson Lee Staton of Shelbyville, two brothers, Earl Whitton of Shepherdsville and J. R. Whitton (Katy) of Owingsville, sister-in-law, Christine Whitton of Mt. Sterling, three grandchildren, Jed Staton (Ginger), Jessica Staton (Jason Morris) and Lee Benton Staton, six great-grandchildren, Jada Staton, Bryar Staton, Jayger Staton, Parker Staton, Bentley Staton and Kinsley Morris and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Owingsville First Church of God with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Polksville Cemetery.

Visitation at the Owingsville First Church of God is after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Jed Staton, Lee Benton Staton, Jason Morris, Tony Whitton, Jerry Long and Omar Heath.

Contributions are suggested to the Owingsville First Church of God WCG.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all arrangements.
