Bobby Ray Bowles, age 67 of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Saturday evening, January 9, 2016 at the St. Joseph - Mt. Sterling Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Bath County, Kentucky on October 29, 1948 to the late Henry Lum Bowles and Maggie Basford Bowles.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Allen "Bud" Bowles, Samuel Bowles and Ralph Bowles. Eight sisters, Carolyn Bowles, Rosemary Bowles, Judith Bowles, Edna Hunt, Nola Bowles, Betty Bretz, Bonnie Dailey and Hester Bretz.

He was a dedicated member of the Farmer's Market and held many jobs through the years where he made many lifelong friends along the way. He had also worked at Jockey International, Knitting Division in Carlisle and A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling  He had also attended the Bethel Community Church.

Bobby enjoyed the farm life. He especially enjoyed raising a garden, cooking, playing the lottery, good country music and always enjoyed everything about Christmas.

Even though he had no children of his own. His love was more like a father and grandfather to his many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include one brother, John Bowles of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, Three sisters, Wanda Bowles, Vickie Skaggs and Louise Perry all of Bethel.

Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with his niece Maggie Smith and Rev. Roy Stacy officiating.

Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 5:00 P.M. Monday.

Pallbearers will be Harry Hunt, Ralph Hunt, John Bowles, Joshua Bowles, Joseph Bowles and Andy Dailey
