Charles Lee "Chick" Smith, 75, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Bath County on April 23, 1947. The son of the late Leroy and Lillian Carpenter Smith.
Chick was an icon in Owingsville for most of his life. As the owner and operator of Smith and Son Hardware Store, the community could count on Chick to provide essential items from the store to tackle any project. He enjoyed bargaining with his customers and always left them feeling happy. Chick also played a big role in the Boy Scouts and the Lions Club by making many contributions over the years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt Stella Byron.
Survivors include several cousins and dear friends that will miss him dearly. A special thank you to his extended family, Chuckie and Eva Riddle.
A memorial graveside service will conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Owingsville Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed at the gravesite. A memorial "Chick Bash" will follow at the former Smith and Son Hardware building in Owingsville where many good memories can be shared.
