Charles Edward Whaley, 83, of Leesburg, Florida formerly of Bath County, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home.
He was born on February 2, 1934 in Bath County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lucien R. and Alta Royse Whaley.
Mr. Whaley was a member of the Adventure Christian Church in Tavares, Florida. He served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955, where he was stationed in Europe.
He loved his Lord, family, country and friends and he had a passion for fishing and visiting his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Conley Whaley of Leesburg, Florida, two sons, Edward (Brenda) Whaley and Dallas Whaley both of Pittsboro, Indiana, one daughter, Jeanette (Michael) Groeger of St. Joseph, Michigan, four grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Whaley of Danville, Indiana, Lorna (Stephen) Wilson of Acworth, Georgia, Vincent Groeger and Amelia Groeger both of St. Joseph, Michigan, two great-grandchildren, Madison of Danville, Indiana and Eleanor Wilson of Acworth, Georgia, four sisters, Louise Six of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Verna Rogers of Owingsville, Kentucky, Lena Jamison and Rita (Hugh) Byron both of Hillsboro, Kentucky, five brothers, Allen B. Whaley of Carlisle, Kentucky, Danny R. Whaley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tommy R. Whaley of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Joe M. Whaley of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and Lucien Dale Whaley of Hillsboro, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Owingsville Christian Church.
Full military honors will be conducted by the W. N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post No. 1834.
The family invites all friends and relatives to attend.
