Dan Edward "Eddie" Wells, a dedicated family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Highland Medical Center in Scottsboro, Alabama. Born on April 26, 1953, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Eddie lived a life marked by hard work, unwavering commitment, and a heartfelt love for those around him.
Eddie’s career reflected his industrious spirit and versatility. He was a Production Technician at the Winchester Farms Dairy and the proud owner of Wells Drywall, where he applied his skills and dedication to his craft. In addition, Eddie served his community as a school bus driver with the Bath County School System, a role he embraced with pride and responsibility.
Throughout his life, Eddie nurtured a rich tapestry of interests that spoke to his zest for life and passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and golf, finding joy and peace in these pursuits. A fan of the thrill, he enjoyed horse races and gambling, while also indulging his adventurous side through travel. His heart beat strongly for the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team, a passion he held close and shared with many.
Eddie’s legacy is carried forward by his loving family. He is survived by his three devoted daughters: Shannon White of Wellington, Florida; Madison Wells (Garland Ballard) of Winchester, Kentucky; and Toni Dick (Zachary Dick), also of Winchester. He also leaves behind two brothers, Steve Wells (Cindy) of Frenchburg, Kentucky, and Gary Wells of Owingsville, Kentucky, along with two sisters, Christy Damron (Tim) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Debbie Everman of Owingsville. Eddie’s life was further enriched by five grandchildren—Lauren, Annie, Gracie, Jonah, and Ryan—who brought him immense joy. His companion, Susan Abercrombie of Owingsville, stood by his side with steadfast love, as did his sister-in-law Vicky Wells of Owingsville, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will fondly remember his warmth and spirit.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edward Franklin Wells and Monavene Spencer Wells, and his brother, Ward Wells.
The community will gather to honor Eddie’s memory with a visitation on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Owingsville First Church of God, located at 320 Slate Avenue, Owingsville, Kentucky.
