David Wayne Bussell

David Wayne Bussell, 75, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at the UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Nicholas County on December 24, 1950, to the late Everett D. Bussell and Viola Farris Bussell.

David was a proud veteran of the United States National Guard, serving with the 201st Combat Engineers in Carlisle, Kentucky. He enjoyed playing sports and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Above all, he cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Bond and Carolyn Hunt and one brother, Michael Bussell. 

Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Bussell and Jennifer Lunz, his former wife and friend, Janet Jones, his sister, Wanda Mathes, three grandchildren, Lauren Zaluski (Jacob), Ryan Lunz (Madi) and Jayden Bussell - Franklin, three great grandchildren and one expected soon, along with several nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be conducted at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026. 

Pallbearers include, Keith Walker, Chris Crump, Daryl Hunt, Gary Gray, Dean Clary, Ryan Lunz, Shawn Bussell, Jayden Bussell - Franklin and Jacob Zaluski.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Tim Crump. 

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Hospice Of The Bluegrass INC. 

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all the arrangements for David Bussell.
