David Jerry Whaley, 91, entered into eternal life on November 24, 2022 at Rosedale Green in Covington Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Whaley (nee Steele), of Owingsville Ky, by his parents Charles Whaley and Viola Whaley, and sister Anna Mary Butcher (nee Whaley), all of
Mount Sterling Kentucky and Wanda Adams (nee Butcher) of Mount Sterling.
David is survived by his daughter, Jerryl A. Nienaber (John) of Lakeside Park Ky., grandsons David Nienaber (Moreen) of Fort Wright Ky and Mark Nienaber (Katherine) of Fort Mitchell Ky. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Ella, Luke, Nicholas, Thomas, Anna, Ruth and Caroline. He is also survived by Andrew Butcher of Myrtle Beach S.C., Phyllis Humphries (nee Butcher) of Popular Plains Ky and Barbara Oldson (nee Butcher) of North Middletown Ky and Wilma DeAtley (nee Butcher) of Carlisle Ky.
David served in the US Army for 2 years, serving in Germany. Following his military service David spent his career in public elementary and secondary education. Most of his career was with the Erlanger-Elsmere Schools where he was assistant superintendent and principal at Lloyd High School and Miles Elementary. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons and great grandchildren. He was a very faith filled Christian and enjoyed studying scripture. Dave enjoyed his genealogy work and cheering for U K sports.
A Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel, Kentucky with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Wednesday.
