Dorothy Dean Myers Mansfield, 89, passed away on November 20th, 2022, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Alvin Mansfield, of Owingsville. She is also survived by three children: Beth (Doug) Moore, of Owingsville. Steve (Jill) Mansfield, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jon (Julie) Mansfield, of Winchester. She was also a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Anna Myers, and one brother, Shirley Charles Myers.
Dorothy was a graduate of Owingsville High School and the Nazareth School of Nursing. She began her nursing career at the office of Dr.’s Salter and Salisbury in Mt. Sterling. From there she worked for a time at Mary Chiles Hospital before beginning an eighteen-year career as the Bath County School Nurse. Dorothy was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church and served for decades as a Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. Her many hobbies included reading and crocheting. She was an avid fan of UK basketball and the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. She loved seeing the world, and her adventures in travel ultimately took her to all fifty U.S. states, as well as to Canada and Mexico. Dorothy had a rich, full life and will be best remembered for her deep and abiding love for her family. A graveside service will be held at the Owingsville Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 23rd followed by a brunch style luncheon at the Ramsey Building of the Owingsville Christian Church. Contributions are suggested to the Owingsville Christian Church.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Owingsville Cemetery with Dr. Sean Bailey and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
