Ellen Hawkins

Mrs. Ellen Ruth Smith Hawkins, 87, of Owingsville, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 in the St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital.
She was born on March 4, 1929 in Carlisle, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James William Smith and Ada Woodall Smith.
Mrs. Hawkins was a retired nurse having worked for several nursing homes and hospitals in the area.
She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed making jewelry, canning, gardening and collectibles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hawkins, one daughter, Dianna Charles, one brother, Harry Smith and one sister, Clarine Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie (Diana) Bealert of Winchester and Danny (Lisa) Bealert of Springfield, Ohio, one daughter, Faye (Doug) Burchett of Owingsville, a grandson, whom she raised, Gary (Melissa) Bealert of Owingsville, one sister, Ruby Smith Bowsher of Winchester, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
