Mrs. Florence Smith Carpenter, 98, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville.
She was born on June 11, 1922 in Bath County to the late James "J.B." Smith and Sarah Markland Smith.
Florence and her late husband Carl owned and operated Carl's Department store and C & F Superette. She was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church and she enjoyed helping others during their time of need, by cooking meals for those who couldn't. She enjoyed painting, gardening and sewing.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl D. Carpenter and ten siblings.
Survivors include one son, James "Jim" Carpenter, one daughter, Carllea Riddle (Roger) both of Owingsville, four grandchildren, Ron Riddle (Sandra), Lee Ann Ramey (John), Kristen Toy (Jeff) all of Owingsville and William D. Carpenter (Mary Chandler) of Mt. Sterling and one great grandson, Taylor Scott Ramey.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville, with Rev. Johnny Baber officiating.
Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be 6 - 8 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will include, Ron Riddle, William Carpenter, Jeff Toy, John Ramey, Taylor Ramey and Kevin Shannon.
The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all the arrangements for Mrs. Florence Carpenter.
