Frances Jewell

Mrs. Frances Wilson Jewell, 95, of Sharpsburg, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her home.

She was born on December 10, 1919 in Bath County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charley and Eddie Jane Wells Wilson.

Mrs. Jewell retired from U.S. Shoe in Flemingsburg. At one time, she had worked at Cowden's Manufacturing. In later years, she worked at Browns Department Store in Sharpsburg, having retired from there at the age of 90.

She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church and was a former member of the Homemaker's Club. Frances enjoyed sewing, working puzzle books, raising flowers and baking sweets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Goldie Jewell, who passed away in 2005, son-in-law, Arnold Hurst, two brothers, Journey Wilson and Edmund Q. Wilson and three sisters, Lily Toy, Margaret Wells and Virginia Jewell.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Hurst of Sharpsburg, one brother, Charley Wilson, Jr. of Mt. Sterling, two sisters, Lena Ingram and Daisy Cook both of Mt. Sterling, three grandchildren, Patricia McVey and Renee Hurst of Sharpsburg and Barry (Regina) Hurst of Owingsville, five great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Richie Hunt Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery at Sharpsburg.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be nephews.
