Frances Clayton "Katy" Whitton

Frances Clayton "Katy" Whitton, 89, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, July 26, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born December 5, 1933 in Bath County, Kentucky, to the late Ambrose Burton Manley and Anna Dawson Garner Manley.

Katy was a loving wife, mother and mother-in-law, and was special to all her Slate Valley Christian Church family. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking (especially making those coconut cream pies), working in her flowers, and going to church.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she adored very much.  Katy worked for thirty-five years at the Bath County Drug Store with her very close friend, who she thought so much of, Joyce Blevins.  She will also be missed by her good friend, Annie Adams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ambrose Burton Manley Jr.

Survivors include her husband, John Robert Whitton; one son, Johnny Ambrose Whitton and his wife, Brenda of Owingsville, one daughter, Annita Marie Heath and her husband, Omar, of Owingsville; one grandson, Tanner Dawson Ambrose Whitton, as well as several other close relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Brother Gregg Whitt and Brother Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Slate Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening, July 28, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Heath, Tanner Whitton, Steven Hart, Rex Allan Huffman, Gary Henderson, Kevin Thomas, Gary Hunt, Bobby Gross and Tony Whitton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Long, Allan Huffman, Jewett Blevins, Larry Barber, Gary Gudgell, Ford Manley and John Estill Everman.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Slate Valley Christian Church, 2563 Wyoming Road, Owingsville, Kentucky 40360.
