Owingsville

Gordon Hoover Vanlandingham, 93, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Hover was married to the love of his life, Roselyn and they were together 70 years until her passing in 2021.  He was the devoted father of Deborah Goodpaster (Sherman), Randall Vanlandingham (Laura) both of Lexington, Kentucky and Tony Vanlandingham (Connie) of Owingsville.  He was also the dearest grandfather to Kathryn Vanlandingham, David Vanlandingham (Julie), Shannon Goodpaster (Steven Guerrera), Scott Goodpaster (Nikki), Kevin Vanlandingham (Elyse), Clay Vanlandingham and the great grandfather to Karson and Kaitlyn Linville, Paul and Lauren Vanlandingham, Gracie and Rylan Vanlandingham and William, Joseph and Henry Guerrera.

He is also survived by one brother, John Vanlandingham, of Owingsville.

Hoover was a member of the National Guard, worked as a lifetime farmer and for Texas Eastern Gas Transmission Corporation.  He Served as a board member of the Farm Bureau and was a member of the Owingsville Baptist Church.

Hoover loved life, loved people, was always kind and had a smile for everyone.  Some of his happiest moments were going to his farm in his white chevy truck and later sharing a sandwich at Sherburne or Goldy's country store.  He was always ready to reach out a helping hand and share a good story.

Hoover's world was centered around family; his three children, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  A trip to Granny and Papa's house was always treasured  with lots of laughter, food, card playing and family stories.

Hoover and Roselyn loved to travel and were able to visit all fifty states and spent many enjoyable family trips to Cave Run Lake and Myrtle Beach.

Hoover was a gift to us all and we feel fortunate to have had him in our lives for so long.  We will be inspired daily by his joyful, positive outlook on life and will always carry his memory and love in our hearts.  He was a true example of a life well-lived.
