Harold Thurman Jones

Harold Thurman Jones, 96, of Kendall Springs, passed away, Thursday, December 12, 2024, at UK St. Claire in Morehead, Kentucky.

Born May 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Emery Jones and Sarah Staton Jones.

Harold married the love of his life, Maxine Carpenter Jones on December 24, 1949. Harold was known for his devotion to God, unwavering determination, and love of his family and friends. Harold was a member and served as Elder of the Owingsville Church of Christ.

Harold was a loving husband, grandfather, and beautiful soul who never met a stranger and would help anyone. He enjoyed farming and gardening. He lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an inspiration to all who met him. Although Harold is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.

Harold is survived by his wife of 75 years Maxine Carpenter Jones, three children Bobby (Janie), Bruce (Mattie), and Julia Dean Jones all of Kendall Springs; six grandchildren, Amy White, Leslie (Matt) Brown, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Jones, Travis (Kristie) Jones, Beverly (Bobby) Short, and David Crouch; eight great grandchildren, Jasmin Jones, Noah Brown, Julia Brown, Samantha White, Maximus White, Logan Jones, Gavin Jones and Lindsey Spence Record; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Hazel Ginter and brothers Carl “Buster” Jones, LaRue Jones, James W. Jones, and Raymond Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Brother Alton Norman officiating. 

Burial will follow at the Kendall Springs Cemetery. 

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Tuesday. 

Pallbearers include Jeffery Jones, Travis Jones, Matt Brown, Adam Thornsburg, Dusty Thornsburg and Johnny Botts. 

Honorary pallbearers include Jamie Ferrell, Mike Stull, Noah Brown, Logan Jones and Maximus White. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Owingsville Church of Christ, PO Box 661, Owingsville, KY 40360 or the Kendall Springs Cemetery, 3030 Kendall Springs Rd., Owingsville, KY 40360.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all the arrangements for Harold T. Jones.
