Helen Razor

September 12, 1926 — August 26, 2015

Mrs. Helen Marie Hamm Razor, 88, of Bethel, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling.

She was born on September 12, 1926 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Dillard Vice Hamm.

Mrs. Razor was a retired cook, having worked at Bethel Elementary School for 19 years.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.

Helen enjoyed reading, quilting, going to church and spending time with her family.  She was known to be an excellent cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boone Razor, Sr., who passed away on May 14, 2003, two sisters, Ora Lee Crace and Geneva Gulley, two half-sisters, Virgie Mae and Janet and two half-brothers, Willie Ray Hamm and James B. Hamm.

Survivors include her six children, Elizabeth Lee Lyons, Patty (Gary) Butcher, Vicki Steele and Boone (Judy) Razor, Jr. all of Owingsville, James Allen (Paula) Razor of Atlanta, Georgia and John Roberts Razor of Sharpsburg, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice, Rev. Bob Ray and Rev. Ron Hill officiating.

Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation is after 6 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Cord, Buster Greene, Tom McMakin, Tinker Ray, Rick Whitt, Brandon Coyle and Brian Vandgrift.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hunt, Walter Shrout, JoAn Cook, Russie Goodpaster, Alta Razor and Beulah Hart.
