James Elgin "Jimmy" Church, 78, of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
He was born in Mt. Sterling on July 3, 1944. The son of the late Elgin Church and Lillian Arnett Church.
Jimmy served his country proudly in the United States National Guard. He worked as the parts manager for his father's farm equipment business for several years and a farm manager. He belonged to the Fleming Masonic Lodge 112, Oleika Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite and the National Rifle Association. He also served as a volunteer fireman for the Bethel Fire Department and a deacon at the Bethel Christian Church. He enjoyed collecting guns, knives and serving his community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barbara Ritchie and his beloved fur babies, Pinto and Grayson.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Janet Couch Church and cousins, Dr. Stephen Church (Diane), Matthew Church, Ryan Church, Megan Church, Emily Church all of Louisville, Kentucky, Duane Church of Marion, Indiana, Donna Housh (Don) and Pamela Meeker of Russellville, Ohio.
Masonic Rites and funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial with full military rites by Mt. Sterling American Legion Post No. 22 will be in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 12:00 - 1:00 PM Wednesday.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
