James Lee Thompson

James "Jim" Lee Thompson, 62, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on April 26, 1964 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to the late James Alfred Thompson and Emma Louise McGlothin Thompson.

James was a dedicated Plant Coordinator for American Highway Fence. He found great joy in woodworking, hunting and fishing, and was happiest when surrounded by his family. His love for the outdoors and the time he spent with those closest to him will be fondly remembered.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sonya Kim Thompson, one son, James Andrew Thompson and one daughter, Jessica Dominix. Four grandchildren, Gibson Shrout, Sophia Mae Dominix, Jamie Lee Dominix and Maddox Thompson. Survivors also include his sister, Ramona Meadows (Gene), one niece, Valarie Ostrom (Blaine) and two great nieces, Courtney Wright (Ryan) and Kelsey Ostrom. 

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2026, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Dr. Sean Bailey officiating. 

Burial will follow at the Thompson Family Cemetery by their home. 

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. 

Pallbearers include, Brior Reynolds, Zachery Jewell, Jacob Purvis, Josh Wells, Blake Holland, Greg Logan, Wes Blevins, Courtney and Ryan Wright, and Claude Jarvis. 

Honorary pallbearers include, Robert Reynolds and Betty, John Perkins, Gene Meadows, Nancy Crouch and Kathy Toy.

In Lieu of Flowers contributions are suggested to the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. 

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all the arrangements for Jim Thompson.
