Janice Faye Brown Hatton, 85, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on April 3, 1941, in Montgomery County, to the late, Willie Brown and Margaret Chandler Brown.
Janice devoted 31 years of service as a seamstress at Jockey. Her commitment and professionalism served as an inspiration to all who knew and worked with her. Beyond her career, Janice found great fulfillment in spending time with her family, tending her flowers, shopping, and cooking.
Janice is survived by her sons, Jerry Scott Hatton, Russell Wayne Hatton (Christina) and Aaron Hatton (Samantha) all of Mt. Sterling. Fond memories will be carried on by her grandchildren: Jared Scott Hatton (Bailey) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Kelsey Rose Hatton, Kelsie Elaine Donathan, Kaylee McKencie Donathan, Austin Hatton and Addyson Hatton and her great grandson, Boone Oliver Via. She also leaves behind her brothers, Richard "Satch" Brown, Donnie Brown (Kristin), David Brown, and Greg Brown (Diane) all of Mt. Sterling, along with her sisters, Ann Brown West (Russell) of Mt. Sterling and Judy Kay Hart (James) of Hudson, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eligah Russell "Jap" Hatton; her brothers, Gerald Brown and Larry Brown; her brother William "Red" Brown; and her sister, Carolyn Sue Butcher.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 89 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY 40360.
The funeral service will take place at the same location on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery at Bethel, KY.
Pallbearers include Steve Brown, Russ Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Brian Brown, Randy West and Rusty West. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Janice's beloved great-grandson Boone Oliver Via.
