Jerry Wayne Byrd, 58, of Mt. Sterling Kentucky, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on November 6, 1965, to the late Johnny and Elsie (Becraft) Byrd.
Jerry spent most of his life working in construction. Outside of work, Jerry found joy in pursuing his hobbies and interests. He had a profound passion for fishing and hunting. Nature became his backdrop for adventure and reflection. Jerry also enjoyed spending time playing billiards and participating in softball games with friends. He appreciated the cinematic world and cherished evenings spent watching movies. Furthermore, Jerry had a fondness for collecting coins, finding value in the history they represented.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Byrd and Elsie (Becraft) Byrd.
He is survived by his wife Dorothea Buchanan Byrd, his son, Johnathan Byrd, and his daughter, Mattie Byrd all of Mt. Sterling, as well as his brother Jeff Byrd (Angie) of Jefferson, Georgia, and sister Michelle Saylor (Billy) of Morehead, Kentucky, his three grandchildren: Johnny Byrd, Ryan Byrd, and Sawyer Byrd, and his many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Michael R Gray Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue to 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location at 1:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Miles officiating.
Burial will follow at the Machpelah Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
