John Estill Everman, age 77, who departed this life on October 18, 2024, in Owingsville, Kentucky. Born on February 14, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late, James "Sonny" Estill Everman and Opal Louise Goodpaster Everman.
John was a dedicated operator at Texas Eastern, where he was known for his commitment and skill. His work ethic was admirable, and his colleagues respected him deeply. Beyond his professional endeavors, John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, embodying the spirit of duty and honor that so many cherish.
Among his proudest accomplishments, John was honored to be a member of the Bath Masonic Lodge #55 and was actively involved in the Slate Valley Christian Church, reflecting his dedication not only to his faith but also to his community.
John had a passion for life that was expressed through his hobbies. He enjoyed being a farmer, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and collecting arrowheads. He was also a dedicated fan of UK basketball.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by one grandson, James Russell Everman, and one brother-in-law, Nelson Garner.
A devoted family man, John is survived by his wife, Lydia Bristow Everman. He leaves behind two sons, John Russell Everman and his wife Melissa, and Jamie Everman and his wife Becky, both of Owingsville. John’s legacy continues through his two grandchildren, Paige Everman and John Hunter Everman, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He is also mourned by his sister, Nancye Garner of Owingsville, along with several cousins, including Ronnie Gudgell (Patsy) of Owingsville, Brenda Greer (Bernie) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Connie Johnson of Glenville, South Carolina, Donna and Denny Enyeart (Debbie) of Riverside, California, David Enyeart (Sabrina) of Goleta, California, Phill Everman (Ida) of North Vernon, Indiana, and Willie Vanlandingham (Emily) of Owingsville. John had many special friends who will greatly miss him.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Masonic rites will be performed for John at 7:00 PM with the funeral immediately following with Pastor Greg Whitt officiating. John will be laid to rest in Owingsville Cemetery on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM with full military honors performed by American Legion Post 22.
