John Douglas Maze, 46, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

John was born in Morehead, Kentucky on December 14, 1977, to Brenda Sorrell Maze and the late Jerry Douglas Maze.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; Arthur and Christine Maze, Kenneth Sorrell, and Irene Blevins Sorrell Forman.

He is survived by his son, Mason Jerald Maze, who was his pride and joy. His fiancé, Whitney Strange, his mother Brenda Sorrell Maze, his sister Jessica Bowling (Larry) and his three nephews; Austin, Alan, and Alex Bowling all of Owingsville. A special cousin, Dodd Sorrell of Winchester, and two special friends: Kris Vance of Somerset, Brad Withrow of Morehead and his faithful companion, his dog, Ben.  Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

John was a 1996 graduate of Bath County High School. After graduation, he went on to attend Morehead State University. While at Morehead State University he took a big interest in the arts and welded many sculptures including some that were on display at Morehead State’s campus. He used his talent in welding to later build roll bar cages for ATVs and even built a jeep from scratch.

John has always had a love for nature. He enjoyed being outdoors. He spent a lot of his time riding ATVs, kayaking, hiking, and boating on Cave Run Lake. Most recently, he had taken an interest in gardening.

While growing up as a young boy, John spent many days working on the farm with his Daddy and continued this throughout his adult life. In 2001, he began working with his father to develop the Creekside Mobile Home Park. Throughout the years, they continued to expand this community that provided lots of housing for the community of Owingsville. After his father’s passing, he continued to maintain and manage Creekside Village.
