Judith Purvis
January 22, 1940 — May 10, 2016
Mrs. Judith Ann Purvis, 76, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Center in Lexington.
She was born on January 22, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of the late Edward Hout and Darlene Vaverka Smith.
Judith was a retired Dorm Supervisor for Eastern Kentucky University.
She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed reading and gardening.
Judith was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very kind and generous and was a supporter of the DAV and Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Purvis, who passed away on February 1, 2010, one son, Harry C. Purvis, Jr. and one brother, Pat Huot.
Survivors include one son, Clifton “Doug” (Nancy) Purvis of Berea, two daughters, Susie Hill and Harriett Barton both of Marion, Indiana, one brother, Kirk Huot of Chicago, Illinois, three grandchildren, Amanda Cardwell, Sammy Barton and Ellen Hahlbhom, two great-grandchildren, Lily Cardwell and Addy Able and two nephews, Kirk Edward Huot and Christopher Huot.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 13, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Knox Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Purvis, Kirk Huot, Johnny Webb, Michael Cardwell, Kirk Edward Huot and Bruce Schweitzer.
