Salt Lick

Kenneth Ray Purvis, also known as "Kenny", passed away on May 20th, 2023, after an extended illness, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bath County on March 28th, 1950, to the late Millard Edward Purvis and Millie Francis Purvis. 

Kenny was a hardworking man who owned and operated Kenny Purvis Builders Inc. and Bourbon Lumber Company, where he displayed his good work ethic to all who knew him. In his free time, Kenny enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and working with horses and training dogs.  Kenny was known as the private quiet type who loved his family dearly and never missed a family function. 

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, John Brent Purvis.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife Mary Purvis; daughter Kerri (Clifton Sparks) Copher of Salt Lick; Kimberly Ray (Jeff) Draper of Lexington, Kentucky; granddaughter Isabella Copher; granddaughter Ava Copher ; brothers Gary (Elanor) Purvis and Eddie (Cindy) Purvis; sisters Cheryl Fields, Laura Maze and Lisa Hiler all of Owingsville; mother-in-law Dorothy Ulery of Salt Lick; sister-in-law Carol (Doug) Caskey of Winchester, Kentucky; niece Tina (Donnie) Lucas of Owingsville; niece Karina (Blaine) Brashear of Lexington, Maryland; niece Monica (Corey) Handy of Shady Spring, West Virginia; nephews Jason Purvis, Adam "Peanut" Purvis and Jared (Amanda) Purvis all of Owingsville; nephew Zachary (Ashley) Purvis of Stanton, Kentucky; great nephew Jacob (Maddie) Purvis of Owingsville and great niece Whitley Purvis of Morehead.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in the chaple of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. 

Burial will Immediately follow at the Hedricks Cemetery in Salt Lick. 

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be Monday, May 22, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. 

Pallbearers include, Clifton Sparks, Chad Copher, Donnie Lucas, Jason Purvis, Adam "Peanut" Purvis and Jacob Purvis. 

Honorary pallbearers include, Doug Caskey, Eddie Purvis, Gary Purvis and Farley Jason Purvis. 

Kenny will be greatly missed by his family and friends but his legacy will continue to live on through his dedication and hard work.
