Loretta Smith Thornsberry, 56, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born on June 8, 1970 in Rowan County to the late Melvin Ray Smith and Sarah Martha Stevens Smith.
Loretta was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and her home. she enjoyed gardening, cooking and shopping. She had a fun-loving personality that brought joy and laughter to those around her. Above all, Loretta cherished her family, and the time she spent with them was the greatest joy of her life. She will be remembered for her loving heart, joyful spirit and the many special memories she created with those she loved.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Elwood Thornsberry, who passed away in 2007; her sister, Alice Faye Smith; and her granddaughters, Allison Thornsberry, Alexis Thornsberry, and Addison Thornsberry.
She is survived by her spouse, Scott Schaub. She also leaves behind her children, Myran (Haley) Thornsberry, Frankie (Selena) Thornsberry, Raymond (Anita) Thornsberry, Kaneatha (Derek Whisman) Honeycutt, Natessa (Brett) McCarty, Faith Thornsberry, and Tarah Schaub. She is also survived by her sister, Wilma (Billy) Caskey, and her niece, Kasarah Smith.
Surviving grandchildren include: Kendrick McCarty, Spencer McCarty, Declan McCarty, Jazzalynn Thornsberry, Landon Whisman, Cora Honeycutt, Latessa Honeycutt, Karter Whisman, Kammie Whisman, Alissa Whisman, Emma Whisman, Shelton Whisman, Kassie Stacy, Katrina Stacy, Ryan Thornsberry, Wyatt Thornsberry, Raelyn Thornsberry, Everleigh Thornsberry, Aspyn Thornsberry, Delilah Thornsberry, Archer Thornsberry, Aria Thornsberry, Adalynn Ross, Anna-Chae Ross, Zoey Thornsberry, Rylee Thornsberry, Ellie Thornsberry, Ryker Thornsberry, and Waylon Thornsberry.
In accordance with the families wishes, a service will be held at a later date.
Loretta will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her family, her home, and the many moments she shared with those she loved will remain a lasting part of her memory.
