Mary Lois Manley Butler, Lexington, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 10th 2023. She was born in Mt. Sterling, KY on November 18, 1947 to Mary Margaret Manley and James Calvin Manley. After graduating from Bath County High School in 1965, she attended Morehead State University, receiving a degree in secretarial science. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James Butler. Their life together was full of travel, and many weekends spent on Williamstown Lake with friends. They resided for 17 years in Ashland after living in Buffalo, NY and Florissant, MO. Mary started her elemetary teaching career in Lawrence County. She retired from Kenton County after teaching 25 years. Mrs. Butler had a lasting impact on her students and co-workers.

One of her greatest joys was being a mother and grandmother. One could always find her traveling, cooking, or doing laundry for her grandchildren.

A faithful member of Walton Christian Church, Mary loved serving others and she lived a vibrant life, touching everyone she met. Mary also served on the Friends of KET Board. Whether it was sewing items for Operation Christmas Box, hosting friends at Williamstown Lake, or serving others through her church, her contagious smile, joy and zeal for life left a lasting impact.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Raymond Butler, and brother-in-law, Edward Raymond Butler. She is survived by her daughter, Lexie Centers (Jeff) of Owingsville, her grandchildren, Jaron Butler Centers and Phoebe Elaine Centers; her 3 sisters, Jeanette George, Laurens, SC, Marsha Patrick (Bill), Owingsville, Diane Manley, Winchester; her 2 brothers, Daniel Manley and David Manley (Charlotte) of Owingsville; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
