Matthew D. Ferguson, 32 of Owingsville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 12, 2016 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Matthew was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on October 28, 1983 to Pamela Daniels and the late Joe Ferguson.
He was a City of Owingsville police officer and had been a Johnson County Sheriffs Deputy and Chief Grant Writer for Johnson County Sheriffs office.
Matthew was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his father Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather Russell Ferguson.
Survivors include his wife, Whitney Frizzell Ferguson, one daughter, Abigail Frizzell, his mother, Pamela Daniels of Burnettsville, Indiana, two brothers, Paul Ferguson of Paintsville, Kentucky, and J.D. Conley of Salyersville, Kentucky, grandmother, Lola Ferguson of Paintsville, Kentucky, uncle Gary Ferguson and wife Sue of Paintsville, uncle William Ferguson of Paintsville, aunt Brenda LeMaster of Paintsville, aunt Vivian Davis of Paintsville, uncle, Mike Daniels of Paintsville, two step sisters, Racheal Allen of Paintsville, Rachael Watts of Paintsville, two step brothers, Stephen Waddles and Josh Woods of Paintsville, four nephews Russell Ferguson, Connor Watts, Alden Watts, Keegan Woods, Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Brad and Teresa Frizzell of Salt Lick, cousins Miranda Blair and Tyler Ferguson of Paintsville. Cousins, Ashley Scott, Brad Davis, Marianne Davis, Chris Lemaster and Michelle Stambaugh all of Paintsville and Kris Lemaster of Chillicothe, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday October 16, 2016 at the Bath County Middle School Gymnasium, 335 W Main St, Owingsville, KY 40360, with Brother Calvin Lindell officiating. The eulogy will be given by Miranda Blair.
Burial will follow at the Dickerson Cemetery in Salt Lick.
Visitation will be Saturday after 5:00 PM at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Pallbearers will be Dewey Meade, Malcolm Eversole, Michael Scott, Todd Tout, Bud Lyons, Justin Sutherland, John Sutherland, Doug Saylor and David Adams.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville.
