Mt. Sterling

Norma Jean Hart, 93, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling.  She was born on May 28, 1932, to the late Bettie Doyle Calvert and Lee Owens Calvert.

Norma was raised in Sharpsburg, where she attended Sharpsburg High School and proudly served as a cheerleader and later attended Bath County High School, where she graduated.

Throughout her life, Norma wore many hats. She was a devoted dairy farmer’s wife and faithful partner to her beloved husband, Charles Blaine Hart Sr., for more than 50 years. She was a loving mother to Ann Whisman (Benny) of Mount Sterling, Della Matthews (Maverick) of Stanton and the late Charles "Chuck" Hart Jr.

A lifelong member of Owingsville First Church of God, Norma faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for over 70 years. Her love for her church, her students and especially her Lord was evident in every part of her life.

She is survived by her six grandchildren: Chip (Jennifer) Hart, Jonathan (Annie) Hart, Benjamin Whisman, Sarah (Kyle) Bradley, Elizabeth (Jordan) Clevenger, and Rex Dale (Kayla) Crouch II; along with 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Rogers; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Hart; one son, Chuck Hart; two brothers, John Calvert and Marvin Calvert; and one sister, Betty Vice.

Of all the blessings and opportunities in her life, Norma’s greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She faithfully read His word, treasured it in her heart, and lived her life as an example of His love and grace.

Visitation for Norma will be held at the Owingsville First Church of God on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

The funeral service will follow at the same location at 1:00 PM with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel.

Pallbearers will be Chip Hart, Jonathan Hart, Ben Whisman, Rex Dale Crouch II, Kyle Bradley and Jordan Clevenger. Honorary pallbearers will be her former Sunday school students.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Mt. Sterling Health and Rehabilitation, also known as Windsor Care, for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to their mother. Your consideration and willingness to help will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Owingsville First Church of God.
