Oscar Lewis Shields, born on May 21, 1931, in Bath County, Kentucky, to the late Robert "Bob" Shields and Delsie Jones Shields.  He passed away on October 6, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington. He was a respected member of his community, known for his deep-rooted commitment and dedication to both his family and career.

Oscar dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Bundy Tubing Corporation, but his passion for farming remained ever-present throughout his lifetime. He was a lifelong farmer who embraced the land and its cycles, fostering resilience and sustainability in everything he undertook. His work ethic and tenacity served as an inspiration to many who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A veteran, Oscar served in the United States Army, embodying the values of loyalty and service that characterized his life. He was not only committed to his duties but also to sharing those experiences with his loved ones, often recounting stories that marveled at the bonds formed during his time of service.

Beyond his professional and military achievements, Oscar found joy in various hobbies that enriched his life. He loved gardening, painting gourds and pinecones, collecting rocks and marbles, and spending peaceful moments fishing—activities that allowed him to connect with nature and the beauty around him.

He is predeceased by four brothers, Jimmy, Billy, John, and Bobby Shields. Their memories remain intertwined within the fabric of the family he held so dear.

Oscar's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth McNabb Shields.
