Phyllis Ann Rawlings, 78, of Bethel, Kentucky, passed away Friday morning, August 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on March 29, 1945, in Nicholas County, Kentucky to the late Roger Wilton Curtis and Anna Mae Snapp Curtis. Phyllis was a cherished member of Bethel Christian Church and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Phyllis had a gentle and kind nature that made her a joy to be around. She was known for her soft-spoken demeanor and pleasant personality. Her friends and family could always count on her warm and caring presence. Phyllis had the remarkable ability to make those around her feel comfortable and loved.
Phyllis had a wide range of interests and hobbies. She found solace in tending to her beautiful flowers and took great pride in maintaining a vibrant garden. Phyllis also enjoyed working on puzzles that challenged her sharp mind. She had an extensive collection of books and derived great pleasure from getting lost in their pages. However, what truly set Phyllis apart was her incredible talent as a cook. Her culinary skills were unparalleled, and she delighted in preparing mouthwatering meals for her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Wayne Rawlings.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Hurschell Ray Rawlings, her son, Stephen Ray Rawlings of Bethel and her daughter, Angela D. Rawlings Ehr (Andrew) of Louisville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Andrew D. Blevins (Courtney) of Atlanta, Georgia; Wesley D. Blevins of Knoxville, Tennessee; and one sister, Judith Kay Curtis Bortz (Aaron) of Louisville, Kentucky and her beloved Pomeranian, Brie who she loved so dearly. Her loved ones will continue to be guided by her love and wisdom.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 21, 2023, in the chapel of the Michael R Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Bro. Roy Stacy officiating.
Burial will follow at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hunt, Tony Parker, John Workman, John Vice, Ricky Bussell and David Schuler.
Honorary Pallbearers include, John Crump, Jared McKinney, Amos Stolfus and Henry Hertzler.
Contributions are suggested to a local Humane Society or ASPCA.
