Roger Dale Dillon, 80, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the UK St. Claire Hospital in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on February 13, 1945, to the late James and Dreama Dillon. Roger dedicated a significant portion of his life to education, serving as principal at Oldtown and Warnock Elementary along with Wurtland Middle School, where he was not only a mentor to many students but also a leader in the educational community. His commitment to education was further complemented by his academic achievements, having received a Bachelor's degree from Kentucky Christian University, a Master's degree, and Rank I from Morehead State University.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Roger was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Wells Dillon, and their daughter, Karen Dillon White, married to Jeff, both of Owingsville. Roger took immense pride in his four grandchildren: Erika Woods (Erik), Holly Forbes (Seth Carey), and Brianna and Cory White, and he cherished his role as a great grandfather to EJ and Evan Woods, as well as Violet Jones and Oliver Carey.
Roger's interests were diverse; he found joy in singing, reading, fishing, riding motorcycles, boating, canoeing, playing tennis in his younger years, and gardening. He was deeply involved in his faith and was proud to be a minister, as well as a dedicated member of the Slate Valley Christian Church.
Roger was preceded in death by his brother, James Dillon, and his two sisters, Ada Tucker and Allie Cline.
The visitation for Roger Dale Dillon will be held on Thursday May 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael R Gray Funeral Home, located at 89 Slate Ave, Owingsville, KY 40360.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Slate Valley Christian Church, situated at 2539 Wyoming Rd., Owingsville, KY 40360, followed by burial at Owingsville Cemetery, 129 Cemetery St, Owingsville, KY 40360.
Pallbearers will include, Seth Carey, Erik Woods, Jeff White, Omar Heath, Billy Wright and Danny Barnet.
Honorary Pallbearers include, Roger Horseman, Larry Barber, Jewett Blevins, JR Whitton, Ford Manley, Gary Henderson and EJ Woods.
In Roger's memory, contributions are suggested to the Slate Valley Christian Church and The Myositis Association 6950 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 370 Columbia, MD 21046.
