Mrs. Rosa Mae McCarty Riddle, 96 passed away Friday evening, December 30, 2016 at the Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg after an illness of several weeks. She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on September 14, 1920 to the late Sanford and Martha Otis McCarty.
Mrs. Riddle was a former nursing home employee having worked at several nursing homes in the area. She enjoyed quilting, canning, cooking, raising a vegetable garden and collecting redbird figurines. She was a member of the White Oak Christian Church until moving to Mt. Sterling and attended church there.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Riddle, one son, Trent Riddle, two brothers, Jake McCarty and Renzie McCarty, three sisters, Anna McCarty Myers, Lucille McCarty Cassidy and Etta McCarty Otis.
Survivors include one grand-daughter, Tina Riddle Reffitt of Mt. Sterling, one great-granddaughter, Briana Reffitt of Mt. Sterling and one great-grandson, Zachary Reffitt of Mt. Sterling.
A special niece, Marilyn Howard and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2017 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Anthony Anderson and Bro. James Humphries officiating.
Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 12:00 P.M. Monday until the hour of service.
Pall Bearers will be Zachary Reffitt, Wayne Crouch, Bill Varner, Bobby Hammack, Marshall Coyle, Roscoe Howard, Albert Anderson, David Carter and Jimmy Carter.
