Sidney Taylor Harmon

Sidney Taylor Harmon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4th, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born on June 8th, 1939, in Bath County. Sidney will always be remembered for his warm personality and great sense of humor.

Sidney spent most of his professional career as General Manager at Southern States. He was a well-respected and trusted member of the community who touched the lives of many people through his work.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Sidney had a passion for fishing and watching University of Kentucky basketball. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sidney is survived by his wife of many years, Betty Lou Harmon; two sons: Randy Harmon of Key West, Florida and Mitchell Harmon (Danita) of Carlisle, Kentucky; one daughter: Lucinda Harmon of Carlisle; two brothers: Wilson Harmon (Margaret) of Owingsville and David Harmon (Polly) of Ewing, Kentucky; and two sisters: Lucille Bailey of Marion, Indiana and Phyllis House of Columbia, South Carolina. He is also survived by two grandsons: Jeremy Harmon (Melissa) and Kyle Harmon (Mallory), both of Carlisle; and four great-grandchildren: Presley Wills, Grayson Harmon, Griffin Harmon, and Rhett Harmon.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Arthur Junior Harmon; three sisters, Linda Fickle,  Delores Reed and Ada Mitchell.

Family members will receive friends at the Michael R Gray Funeral Home located at 89 Slate Ave in Owingsville on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm on May 8th.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 9th in the chapel of the Michael R Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville. 

Burial will immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, located at Main St, Sharpsburg.

Contributions are suggested to the Bethel Christian Church. 

Sidney will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
