Sue Ann Dicken Calvert

Sue Ann Dicken Calvert, age 86, of Sharpsburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 after a short illness.  She was born on July 24, 1937, in Bethel, KY to Frank Dicken and Margaret Dicken.  She was a member of the Sharpsburg Christian Church and a retired banker of 32 years.  Sue thoroughly enjoyed her life on the farm along with her other hobbies of quilting, sewing, canning and field trips with her pals.  She was the organist and choir director at the Sharpsburg Christian Church for many years before passing the baton and will be greatly missed by her family and friends, as Sue was always the one with the welcome mat out and the willingness to help anyone who asked.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Calvert, two brothers, Frank Stockwell Dicken and John Hawkins Dicken and two sisters, Virginia Nell Ramsey and Mary Amos Mulcahy. 

She is survived by one brother, Cyrus Dicken (Geve) of Lexington, KY, two children, Steve Alan Calvert (Corazon) of Sharpsburg and Margaret Ann Calvert Terry (Mike) of Lexington, one grandson, Bradley Steven Calvert (Ann) of Lexington and one great grandson, Alexander Bradley Calvert of Lexington, plus many nieces and nephews and two special traveling pals, Carolyn Rogers and Mary Bruce Wilson.

Funeral service will be held at the Sharpsburg Christian Church at Noon on Saturday, August 12, 2023, conducted by Pastor Johnny Baber and the Rev. Lowell Rice.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service starts with burial immediately following at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sharpsburg Christian Church, PO Box 117 Sharpsburg, Kentucky 40374.

Pallbearers will be Brad Calvert, Glenn Grimes, Gerry Oney, Scott Ramey, Walter Shrout, Randy Stull, Carl Vice and Eric Young.
