Violet Thompson, 66 of Vance Road, Salt Lick, Kentucky passed away Thursday morning, September 2, 2021 at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky after an extended illness.

She was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky on April 20, 1955 to the late Herman and Mayme Juanita Hatton Thompson.

Violet was a graduate of Bath County High School where she participated in track. She was of the First Church of God faith and enjoyed visiting and attending the churches in the area. She was recognized at the Polksville First Church of God for having 16 years of perfect attendance. Violet enjoyed music, singing, art and loved to draw, paint and color. She was generous, kind and loved to be around people and especially adored children.

She was a former secretary for Bath County Dispatch and Bath County Extension Service. She had also worked as a teachers aide in the Headstart program.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Thompson.

Survivors include her brothers, Jimmie Thompson and his wife Betty Clark Thompson of Salt Lick.  Roger Dale Thompson and his wife Connie Sue Bangle Thompson of Bradenton, Florida. One niece, Kristy Jo Thompson, two nephews: Jeffrey Thompson and Stuart Bradley, great-nephew, Jacob Bradley and great niece, Paige Bradley, great-great nephew, Jacob Bradley, Jr.   Also, several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, September 5, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hedricks Cemetery at Salt Lick.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 12:00 Noon Sunday.

Pall bearers will be Jacob Bradley, Stuart Bradley, Joe York, Barry Robinson, Russ Robinson and Brian Goodpaster. Honorary pall bearers will be Paige Bradley, Kristy Jo Thompson, Jamie Goodpaster and Jeffrey Thompson.

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Owingsville First Church of God,  Violet Thompson Memorial Fund.

The family wishes to recognize and express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of  Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling for the love and exceptional care that Violet received there.
