Virginia Dufresne, affectionately known as Jennie, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 1, 2026 at the age of 71. She was born on August 27, 1954, in Powell County, Kentucky, to the late Albert Holder and Mary Burris Newman. She dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a nurse at the Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling.
Jennie was a woman of many talents and interests. She cherished crocheting, crafting beautiful dresses, immersing herself in books, and staying connected with friends and family through Facebook. These hobbies brought her joy and comfort throughout her life, reflecting her creative spirit and warm heart.
She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Robbie Dufresne and his wife Heather, and Shane Dufresne and his wife Angel. Jennie's pride and joy extended to her grandchildren: her granddaughter Alayna Dufresne and four grandsons, Ryker and Konner Dufresne, Brayden Wilson and Brodie Dufresne. Her family circle further included several nieces and nephews, along with many great nieces and nephews. Jennie’s devoted companions in Owingsville included her special sister-in-law, Brenda Holder, and her dear friend Mike Adkins, whose support and kindness remained constant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Clay, Farley, and Bill Holder, and her sisters, Ruth Imogene Holder and Betty Ann Holder.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Michael R Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville. Following the visitation, a funeral service to honor Jennie’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the same location with Brothers Tommy Evans and Farley Holder officiating.
Pallbearers include, Ervin Fugate, Mike Holder, Glenn Marshal Townsend, Dwayne Holder, Bradley Holder, Brayden Wilson and Paul Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers include, Billy Holder, Bob Carter, Russell Wilson, Kevin B. Lawson and Wes Cook.
In honor of Jennie's life the family has asked that contributions go to the Means Community Miracle Church.
