Wade Thacker

March 24, 1927 — June 9, 2016

Mr. Wade Thacker, 89 of Olympia, Kentucky passed away Thursday June 9, 2016 at his home after a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1927 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Charles “Bud” and Darthrula Penion Thacker.

Mr. Thacker was a retired coal miner having worked for Pittson Coal Company for many years. He was a farmer, U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Upper Salt Lick Church of Christ.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Wade Thacker Jr., three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife Josephine Ward Thacker, one son Wayne Thacker of Olympia and one daughter Gail Pearson of Arvada, Colorado. One sister Angeline Ward of Vinton, Ohio. Three grandchildren, Jeremy Wayne Thacker, Jarrod Wade Pearson and Alisha Schubitzke. Four great-grandchildren, Addison Elizabeth Thacker, Amberley Jae Thacker, Charles Wade Pearson and Emma Jo Schubitzke.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Bro. Relzda McNabb officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126 will be in the Thacker Cemetery in Olympia.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 6-8 P.M. Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Contributions are suggested to the Markey Cancer Center or St. Claire Hospice.
