Wanda Collins

August 11, 1942 — October 9, 2022

Owingsville

Wanda Sue Collins, 80, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022, at her home after an extended illness.

She was born in Bath County on August 11, 1942, to the late Howard and Lucy Shields Stone.

Sue was a member of the Owingsville Christian Church.  Sue’s life was well lived, full of love, caring, and generosity. There was no kinder a soul than Sue Collins. Her goal in life was to take the weight of the world off of others. She was the definition of a great caregiver, caring for her father, mother and sister for extended periods.  After graduating from Bath County High School in 1960, Sue attended Midway College and earned her certification as a Radiology Technologist.  It was one day while working this position that she met the love of her life, a young Paul Collins, whom she later married, August 1, 1964.  From there Sue and Paul made their life together in Lexington, Reid Village, and finally back home to Tunnel Hill.  Sue dedicated her time and efforts to raising their two children and babysitting for many more children who she also considered family.  Her biggest love was her family and children, especially her grandchildren.  Sue was always very competitive and loved playing corn hole and Rook.  She always stayed active and even at the age of 70 she started taking Zumba classes and running 5k races.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Collins, two sisters, Freda Palmer and Margaret Stone, four brothers, Marvin Stone, Quinn Stone, Fred Stone, and Wick Stone, and her in-laws, Opha and Farmer Collins, Zilpha Sizemore (Homer), Maultie Napier (Ford), Eugene Collins, Pearl Collins, and David Collins.

Survivors include her children, David Allen Collins (Tina) of Georgetown and Freda Duncan (John) of Owingsville, six grandchildren, Jared Duncan (Katie), Elliott Hughes, Lauren Duncan, Isabella Hughes, Katie Elaine Collins and Caroline Duncan, two great-grandchildren, Kinsley Duncan and Conner Duncan, two brothers, Doug Stone (Mary) and Phillip Stone (Joan), and her in-laws, Dinah Stone, Dottie Stone, Jean Collins and Craig Palmer.
