Wanda Ruth Garrard Conyers

June 1, 1943 — September 23, 2024

Owingsville

Wanda Ruth Garrard Conyers, 81, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on Monday, September 23, 2024. She was born June 1, 1943, in Bath County, Kentucky, to George and Arra Ellis Garrard. Wanda was a lifelong member of the East Fork Church of God. As her health prevented her from attending services in person, she continued to worship virtually at the Owingsville First Church of God, where her faith remained a central part of her life. She was also an avid viewer of WLJC, drawing comfort and inspiration from the Christian programming.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl Conyers, whom she married on March 14, 1959. Together, they built a loving family, including two daughters, Brenda (Bob) Trent and Diana (Bryan) Goodpaster, and a son, the late Douglas (Karen) Conyers. Wanda was a proud grandmother to Crystal (George) Lewis, Bobby Scott (Jessica) Trent, Emily (Chris) Hunt, and Adam (Shania) Crockett. Her nine great-grandchildren - Tyler (Janell) Browning, Jacob (Lexie) Conyers, Austin Trent, Kierra Trent, Bradley and Kaytlyn Hunt, John, Kaden, Easton, and Braxton Crockett - held a special place in her heart.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, George and Arra Ellis Garrard; her son, Douglas Scott Conyers; one sister, Opal Turner; four brothers, Earl (Jum), Earn (Jake), Estill, and Bobby; and her grandson-in-law, Travis Browning.

Known affectionately as Nan-Nan and Mamaw, Wanda prided herself on being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a source of unwavering support, love, strength, and wisdom for her family and friends, always offering comfort in times of need. In her able-bodies years, Wanda loved cooking and was known for her wonderful meals that brought people together. She worked alongside her family on the farm in East Fork, enjoying life's simple pleasures and caring for the animals, often serving as the "family vet taxi."

Wanda's memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Her unwavering kindness, quiet strength, and boundless selflessness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched countless lives with her warm smile, her gentle words of encouragement, and her ability to offer comfort even in the most trying times. Wanda's presence was a constant reminder of what it means to live with grace and compassion. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit continues to guide and inspire, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be cherished for generations to come.
