Wesley Burton Johnson passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, after a long illness. He was
born on July 12, 1970, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to the union of Billy and Mary Karen
Johnson.
Wes was a graduate of Bath County High School and attended Lindsey Wilson College where he
played baseball. He grew up in Owingsville, KY but would later move to Brownsville, Texas
where he lived for the past 23 years. He was retired from ORC Industries, Inc. where he served
as plant manager and was fluent in Spanish.
Wes was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Owingsville First Christian Church.
Growing up, Wes played football, basketball, and baseball with baseball being his favorite. He
also loved animals and the outdoors. He treated his beloved dogs, cats, and horses like family.
He also loved to do anything outside and was especially fond of hunting, fishing, and farming.
Wes also enjoyed dancing and dealing in cars. Wes will be dearly missed by those he leaves
behind.
He is survived by his parents, Billy and Mary Karen Johnson of Owingsville; his brother Barry
Johnson of Owingsville; his sister MinDee Hudson of Mt. Sterling, and nieces Ava and Gracyn
Hudson of Mt. Sterling. He was preceded in death by grandparents Welburn and Margaret
Johnson; and Glenmore and Bessie Hogge. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and
cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Baber officiating.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday.
Burial will follow at a later date at the Owingsville Cemetery.
