William Michael (Mike) Butcher, a simple man known for going above and beyond for others, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old.
Born on December 20, 1956, in Frenchburg, Kentucky to the late Johnnie and Barbara Hobbs Butcher. Mike graduated from high school and began working as a farmer, raising cattle; a career he would maintain throughout his life. He was most content when he was out tending to his land and his animals.
Mike had a passion for farming and traveling. He enjoyed nothing more than packing up his family and hitting the open road to see everything this beautiful country had to offer. Whether exploring nearby towns or taking road trips across the U.S., Mike's love of adventure and new experiences was infectious.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Clifford Butcher and one sister and brother-in-law Opal Mae Spence (Bobby).
Mike leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory including: his four children Kevin, Michael D., Michelle, and Danielle Butcher (Brian); in addition to his four grandchildren Myah Kilgore, Liam Utterback, Presley Gumm, and Laney Gumm. Four brothers Johnny Butcher, Tommy Butcher (Mary), Gary Butcher (Samantha), Larry Butcher (Sherry).
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday May 31, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R Gray Funeral Home with Jason Butcher officiation.
Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be after noon until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include, Michael Butcher, Tony Tapp, Tanner Butcher, Chris Butcher, Blake Butcher, Danielle Butcher, Brian Hester, Gary Butcher, Alvin Leach, and Tony Norris.
Honorary Pallbearers include, Liam Utterback, Larry Butcher, Tommy Butcher, Johnny Butcher, Myah Kilgore, and Doodle Butcher.
Mike will always be remembered as a hard worker, an adventurous spirit, a devoted father and papaw. He was a positive force in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through those he loved so deeply. Rest in peace Mike.
