William “Billy” Reed Fields age 74 of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home. Billy was born on March 2, 1948, in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Means H. Fields and Madeline Rawlings Fields.
Billy was quite the athlete early in life. He was a member the first football team at Bath County High School and played softball many years. He went on to work at Link-Belt in Lexington, Kentucky where after many years he retired as the superintendent. Billy was an avid outdoorsman who in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, listening and playing music, training bird dogs and Tennessee walking horses. Billy attended the Owingsville First Church of God and was a member of the Bath Masonic Lodge 55 where he served with honor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruthie Roberts Fields, one brother, James Fields and one sister, Beulah Mae Dowd, two brother-in-laws John Miller, and Gary Sherman.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl Helton Fields, one son Reed Fields, one stepdaughter, Tina Lucas (Donnie), one brother JR Fields (Nancye), all of Owingsville, two sisters, Shella Sherman of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Cheryl Hall (Mike) of Portland, Tennessee, three brother-in-laws Gary Purvis (Elanor), and Eddie Purvis (Cindy) both of Owingsville, and Kenny Purvis (Mary) of Salt Lick, Kentucky, three sister-in-laws Catherine Fields of Centerville, Ohio, Laura Maze, and Lisa Hiler both of Owingsville, two step-grandchildren, Jordan Abrams (Kacy) of Morehead, Kentucky, and Morgan Blevins (Todd) of Richmond, Kentucky and several other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Masonic rites will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, December 10, 2022, with a memorial service to follow in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral home in Owingsville with Pastor Johnny Baber, Rev. Lowell Rice and Pastor Tim Ray officiating.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville will be from 11:00 AM - 12 noon on Saturday.
Honorary pallbearers include, Randy Haskins, Jacob Purvis, Mike Fields, Rodney Donathon, Rodney Mitchell, Tom Wills, Dean Glascock, Mike Clevenger, Jeff Pendleton, Kenny Roberts, Earl Willis, Dennis Butcher, Mike Hall and Brent Fields.
