Zelma Fawns

April 28, 1945 — December 8, 2025

Owingsville

Zelma Fawns, a long-time resident of the Owingsville community, passed away on

December 8,2025. She was a woman that cherished her family. Zelma married her spouse

Alfred Fawns Junior, shortly after graduation from Owingsville High School. They

were married for 61 years prior to his passing in June of this year. Zelma and her husband

Alfred resided in the Peasticks community in Owingsville for the entirety of their time

together. They were well known to their neighbors and were an integral part of the

community. She developed strong relationships with many of her neighbors and church

community. While a very private person, she was known and loved by many. She was

very giving to those she knew and always willing to lend a sympathetic ear to her

colleagues. She thrived on making everyone feel welcome in her home and being a

good host to all who visited.

Zelma is survived by her two children Timothy (Barbara) Fawns and Tina Fawns (David

Collins), her Grandchildren Tyler Fawns, Shelby Samudio (Enrique Samudio), and

Katherine Collins, as well as her Great Grandchildren Henry and Arlo Samudio. She

was the daughter of Georgia Christine Toy Story and Thomas Everett Stamper. She had

no siblings but had two step siblings Ricky (Gail) Story and Patty Story Everman by her

Stepfather Clarence Story.

Zelma had been a member of Bailey’s Chapel Christian Church for most of her adult

life. She had always relied on her Lord and Savior to help her through the most difficult

times in her life and prayed often for his guidance. She shared her beliefs with her

children, giving them a strong sense of right and wrong.

She enjoyed playing cards for fun with her family. Rook was her favorite, and she could

be quite competitive at times. She was a very determined and persistent individual. If

she wanted something, she would put her full heart and soul into the endeavor. She

also had that same passion in support of her family’s endeavors as well.

She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Hedricks Cemetery located at 5308 Old Sand Road, Salt Lick, Kentucky with Brother Gary Henderson officiating.

There is no visitation.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Zelma Fawns.
