George "Funny" Hawkins

George Robert "Funny" Hawkins, 93 of Bethel, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was born April 30, 1928, in Bath County, Kentucky to the late George Lee and Jenny Lee Emmons Hawkins.

Funny was a farmer, school bus driver and appliance repair man. He worked for many years at Ralph Crouch General Store in Bethel. He attended the Bethel Methodist Church and enjoyed tinkering on appliances. He was a longtime member of Bath Lodge No. 55, F. & A.M. in Owingsville and was proud of the fact that he helped build his home there in Bethel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his son, Robert Brown "Bobby" Hawkins. A grandson, Eric Brown Hawkins, Two brothers, James "Jack" Hawkins and Noble Hawkins. Three sisters, Mary Curry, Elizabeth Manley and Margaret Welch.

Survivors include his wife Lena Ginter Hawkins, one daughter, Theresa Warren of Lexington, Kentucky. One sister, Ethel Bashford of Cincinnati, Ohio. Six grandchildren, Bryan (Tawnya) Miller, Melonie (Tim) LeRoy, James "Jim" Hawkins, Robert Brown (Kristin) Hawkins, II, Joseph (Emily) Hawkins and Jessica Hawkins. Several great and great-great grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services and masonic services by Bath Lodge No. 55 F. & A.M. will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, January 17, 2022, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Rev. Lowell Rice and Brother Ken Bashford officiating.

Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is after 12 Noon Monday.

Serving as pall bearers will be Joseph Hawkins, Daimler Miller, Robert Hawkins, Jim Hawkins, Palmer LeRoy, David Shrout and Barry Shrout.
