Ms. Martha Purvis, 81, of Polksville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, October 23, 2019 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hindman, Kentucky on March 21, 1938 to the late Carew & Larcena Smith.
Martha was a homemaker who loved the simple pleasures of life such as, cheering on the U.K. Wildcats, playing tetris, tending to the roses in her garden and collecting light houses among other things. She was married to the late Stanley C. Purvis on February 25, 1956 until he passed away in July 2005.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Purvis (Sandy), Carl Purvis and Floyd Purvis all of Salt Lick, three daughters, Rosemary Baker (Bob) of Jackson, OH, Donna Donovan (Mike) of Salt Lick and Karen Kirkpatrick (Mark) of Van Buren, IN. Twenty five grandchildren, Rhonda Bridenthal, Erin Donovan, Patricia Goldie, Michael Donovan, Katherine Donovan, Mark Kirkpatrick II, Nikki Starr, Ashley Flanigan, Tequilla Simpson, Nakita Purvis, Candice Hunt, Amber Baker, Carrie West, Robert Baker, Sarah Baker, Aimee Wheatley, Wayne Smith, Michelle Miller, Jamie Purvis, Michelle Pitman, Dustin Sandaval, Charles Hurst, Daniel Hurst, Dustin Hurst, Brady Purvis and thirty three great grandchildren. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Brother Damon Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hedricks Cemetery in Salt Lick.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville is from 11:00 A.M. till the time of the funeral on Saturday.
Pallbearers will include Mark Kirkpatrick, Erin Donovan, Robert Baker, Michael Donovan, Travis Hunt and James Bridenthal.
Honorary pallbearers include, Bob Baker and Mike Donovan.
