Sara Jane Orme,86, of Owingsville, Kentucky passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on January 21, 1935 to the late Henry L. Orme and Lottie Crouch Orme.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Katherine Rogers and two brothers; Harold Orme and Billy Orme, sister-in-law, Betty Orme, her beloved dog Mia and Katherine's cat Chloe.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Sara Jane was employed by the Bath County Board of Education as their first school secretary. She later was a finance officer and treasurer for the Bath County Board of Education with a total of 46 years of service. She served on the Bath County Fiscal Court Health Services Committee in 1974 which was responsible for the foundation of the Bath County Health Services. She was a member of the Owingsville Woman's Club, and served as treasurer. She was also a member of the Kentucky Association School of Business Officials. Her love of animals was well known. She would feed many of the homeless cats and made numerous trips to the vets when there was a need.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home at 89 Slate Ave. Owingsville, Kentucky 40360 with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow at the Machpelah Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral in Owingsville will be from 10:00 AM to 12 noon on Thursday.
